Biography

Connor Koppin (b.1991) is an award-winning composer and conductor of choral music. In 2013 he completed his bachelor of music education degree at Wartburg College where he studied conducting with Lee Nelson. Koppin's music is quickly becoming recognized as substantial choral repertoire that contains a weakness for extraordinary beauty. His pieces have been performed across the United States by numerous choral ensembles in collegiate, high school, and liturgical settings. In March of 2013 his piece, "i carry your heart" received its premiere at Carnegie Hall (which included a standing ovation). In 2014, "i carry your heart" was selected for performance by the Iowa All-State Chorus, making him the youngest composer to ever be performed by the ensemble. He has had pieces selected for a number of all-state performances in both Minnesota and Iowa. He currently has music published with both MorningStar Music and ECS Publishing.

Connor currently lives in Ames, IA and directs a high school vocal music program in the area. His plans are to continuing composing and conducting music at the high school level, while pursuing a masters and doctoral degree in choral conducting.
