Biography

Ellen Gilson Voth (b.1972), a native of New Jersey, brings a broad background as pianist, organist, choral conductor and educator to her work as an arranger and composer. She received her Bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, from the Conservatory of Music at Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois, her Master’s degree from Westminster Choir College of Rider University in Princeton, New Jersey, and her doctoral degree from The Hartt School, University of Hartford, West Hartford, CT.

In addition to several positions in school districts and churches throughout the Northeast, Voth has served on the faculty of the Ithaca College School of Music in Ithaca, New York and the faculty of Gordon College in Wenham, Massachusetts. She has also served on the faculty of the Csehy Summer School of Music in Langhorne, Pennsylvania and the Masterworks Festival in Winona Lake, Indiana.

Various compositions in her oeuvre have been commissioned and performed by churches and educational institutions nationwide.

Recently Voth has served on the board of the Connecticut chapter of the American Choral Directors Association. Currently she is Director of the Farmington Valley Chorale based in Simsbury, Connecticut, and is a frequent adjudicator and guest clinician.
