Reviews | Normand Gouin has written a much more accessible version of the same text. Women sing the first verse, men sing the second. Verse three provides SA/TB; both parts have a pleasing melody to sing, both in modest vocal ranges. Verse four splits the parts ST/AB again with flowing vocal lines and subtle, interesting harmonic surprises. |

The composer's own metrical version of Psalm 121 is set for two-part mixed voices, with the option for congregation to join in for one or more verses. Changing meters, judicious chromaticism, and the lyrical rise and fall of the melody make this accessible piece satisfying to sing, with a modulation and descant adding a bit of drama to the final verse. A very useful anthem.
