Perhaps one of the most famous poems in the English language, “The Walrus and the Carpenter” is a narrative poem by Lewis Carroll that appeared in his book Through the Looking-Glass, published in December 1871. Juliana Hall’s setting of the poem, with accompaniment by woodwind trio, offers a “mini-operatic” approach to the poem, bringing out the many varied colors described by the two characters at the seaside, as well as the nonsensical humor of the story.
