Libretto:
Written by Seymour Barab based on the story "Baker's Dozen" by H. H. Munro
Synopsis:
Emily and Richard, lovers in their youth, meet accidentally after not having seen each other for many years. Being avid believers in omens, they are convinced that they have been reunited in order to rekindle their love. A more careful examination of the portents, however, reveals that disaster awaits should they marry. They resign themselves to the dictum of Fate that they must part once again when, unexpectedly, Fortune smiles and Love is granted a happy reprieve.
